Offering sustainable spiritual, educational and medical support to the people of Malawi

H.E.L.P. Malawi

H.E.L.P. Malawi is a U.S. not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the children of Malawi with education and health care. They have partnered with Wilderness Safaris to build schools throughout Malawi in rural areas that surround Malawi’s national parks. The first school built by the partnership was Nanthomba Primary School in the Balaka district near Liwonde National Park. The Hosanna / HAHFA group was involved in the initial stages through financial support and some light construction assistance during the group’s first mission trip. There has been an incredible transformation of the school and the community as H.E.L.P. Malawi continues to support and grow facilities and infrastructure.

Another collaborative project between H.E.L.P. Malawi and Hosanna / HAHFA is the Nandumbo Health Care Centre. This partially constructed health care centre was originally built by the government in an effort to give health care to the people in the Nandumbo community and surrounding villages, but with a lack of funding the building was never completed. In July 2007, H.E.L.P. Malawi learned of this building through Bob Swan of Hosanna Church. Bob was dedicated to bringing much needed health care to the area. Bob, along with numerous volunteers and donors worked to develop the Nandumbo area by focusing on education and medical needs. H.E.L.P. Malawi subsequently dedicated the majority of funds (some $70,000) required to complete and upgrade this facility which is now under construction and is expected to be fully operational in 2009. The Hosanna / HAHFA group has raised and committed a further $35,000 for an 11 bed maternity wing to serve the women in the area.
